Denver Stock Show
It was a fun filled day down at the Denver Western Stock Show today. This was our first time going since being here. We always think of going to the it and the many rodeos, but dont ever seem to make it out. So this year we did and Dakota enjoyed it. We asked him what he wanted to see and he said the pigs. So we set out to find them after checking a few things out.
We found the horses and many empty stalls that Dakota had fun with. And a lot of cows of course being the stock show, and then we found...
The lamas and alpacas, I guess we missed the pigs day because we were in the right room but no pigs. So instead we checked out the alpacas and Dakota had fun.

He enjoyed checking out the animals as long as they remained behind the bars. However the lady taking care of this alpaca offered to let him get a closer look.
As soon as we got close for a picture Dakota closed his eyes until we were at what he deemed a safe distance again. Fun stuff, so we continued to check out the various on goings except for ironically the children events due to extreme high traffic in thoses areas. The petting zoo looked like a Disneyland ride in the peak of summer. So although we might of found a pig there we gave up on that option.

He must of had fun though cause he went right to sleep on the ride home and stayed asleep for two hours after getting home.

Christmas Fun
Christmas was very busy for us. But we enjoyed every minute of it. We kicked off our fun with the Ward Christmas party, which was wonderful. Dakota wanted to wait in line to see Santa, then had a melt down as we went to sit on his lap. So that was fun! (no not really). We then stayed up most of the night packing and waiting for Uncle Stephen to get into DIA. He finally landed around 3:15am. From there we headed straight to Grandma and Grandpa Burris' house in Montrose. We were able to be there for my mom's ward Christmas party, were my mom started in a Christmas play. She did a great job. (Sorry no pictures, we tried to video it, but the camera messed up and erased it all.) We were able to see my brother and his wife too. That was great to have 50% of my siblings there to share that time with mom and dad. We had a great visit with them, and enjoy opening gifts from my family. After spending a few days in Montrose, playing in the snow, and hangin' out with cousins, we headed to Utah. The drive wasn't that bad.
When we got back to Colorado, as if we didn't have any time in the snow we headed up to Estes Park and the Rocky Moutnain National park, for some more sledding. We also took a little hike, where both Peter and Stephen almost ended up walking in the little creek coved with snow, that they thought could hold them. Silly boys!
Here is a cute video of Dakota and Peter going down the hill. I love how his little arm keeps waving all the way down.
We were excited to spend a week with Peter's mom and dad. Dakota hadn't seen Grandma and Grandpa Ouzts for a long time. By now Dakota and Uncle Stephen were best of friends. We spent the time there at Aunt Mararget's house. We are so grateful for her and her welcoming us into her home. We were able to see a lot of family and friends while we were in Utah. We had a wonderful time. We went sledding, which we haven't done in the 3 winters we have spent in Colorado, but I think we found a new favorite family activity. (any time anyone wants to go, just let us know... we love it) we had some awesome dinners while we were there, and many many WII bowling games.
Christmas morning was a lot of fun. Dakota slept until about 7, and then laid in bed with us for another 30 minutes. When we finally all got upstairs, he wasn't sure which pile to go to, as there were one for me, Peter, uncle Stephen, aunt Rachael and uncle Steve. so we had to show him where to go. All Dakota could ask for was an elephant. So he got 2 from Santa. He is so cute! I love that he is starting to understand things better.
Overall, although we had a very busy trip, and Christmas vacation... we had a great time. We are grateful for our Savior and his birth at that time of year. We are grateful for our family and the time we were able to spend with them.
